Ring-necked Duck

This is the first I have seen this type of duck in the river. I believe this is a ring-necked duck.

Great Blue Heron Takes Flight

A great blue heron takes a flight down the river to find a new fishing spot.  This photograph was taken with my Canon 7D Mark II camera and a Sigma 150-600 mm lens set at 335 mm. The shutter speed was set at 1/1600 second, the aperture was set at f7.1 and the ISO was set at 2500.

How Am I?

Does anyone know what species this bird is?  I found this bird high on a tree top beside the Rideau River.

I found this cardinal perched on a branch in a tree in my back yard.  This photograph was taken with my Canon 7D Mark II camera and a Sigma 150-600 mm lens set at 325 mm.  The shutter speed was set at 1/640 second, the aperture was set to f5.6 and the ISO was set to 250.

Baby Wood Duck

Here is a photograph of a young wood duck chick swimming in the lake. I found a family of wood ducks at Mud Lake yesterday.  There was a mother and five ducklings swimming in the lake.  This photograph was taken with my Canon 7D Mark II camera and a Sigma 150-600 mm lens set at 600 mm. The shutter speed was set to 1/500 (IS), the aperture was set at f11 and the ISO was set at 500.

Cardinal in a Tree

The cardinal is one of the few birds which stays through the Canadian winter.  This cardinal has wintered well as you can see by his bright red feathers and plump round body.  This photograph was taken with my Canon 7D Mark II camera and a Sigma 150-600 mm lens set at 500 mm.  The shutter speed was set to 1/400 second, the aperture was set to f6.3 and the ISO was set to 160.
